Frequently Asked Questions
What are the sizes of your unframed illustrations?
We offer Small, drawn within a 19x14cm window (close to A5, centred on an A4 sheet), Medium drawn within a 24x19cm window (drawn on an A4 sheet) and Large drawn within a 34x28cm window (on an A3 sheet).
What is your most popular options for gifting?
My most popular sizes for gifting are definitely Medium Black Ink Illustrations, and Medium Watercolour Illustrations!
What are the sizes of illustrations once framed?
Small illustrations once framed are 35x28cm, Medium illustrations once framed are 38x33cm.
Why can’t I order Large (A3) illustrations framed?
With my last batch of large frames, I was returning more frames than I was able to use, due to poor quality and inconsistencies. Because of this, I have decided to remove large framing as an option until I am able to find a more reliable supplier.
How long is the lead time required for my illustration?
Currently I give a time frame of 2-4 weeks - this window allows for variance in order volume, size, and types of illustration. If an illustration is required sooner, I do offer a 4-5 business day window for an extra rush fee.
Why charge a rush fee for expedited orders?
My regular time frame to complete orders is 2-4 weeks, however I do understand that sometimes last minute orders are required! Illustrations can take anywhere from 1 to 5 drawing sessions, depending on size and type. Unfortunately I am only one person, who also works a 40 hour week at my day job, so illustrations are done after 6pm weekdays, and weekends. Rush fees allow me to complete drawings in a more expedited manner (4-5 business days), while still being able to account for the extra time and late nights that will be required to add to my workload. Rush fees vary depending on size.
Can illustrations be shipped?
Yes, unframed and framed illustrations can be shipped! These are wrapped up safely, and couriered with NZ Post Nationwide. I have not yet had a frame become damaged in transit, but if this was to occur, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Shipping nationwide costs between $10-20, depending on location and size. If you are shipping to a rural address, ensure you note this when ordering in the shipping details - otherwise this will end up as a secondary invoice.
What kind of photo do you need from me of the home?
There are a few types of photos I can accept. If the photo isn’t too blurry or pixellated - I can usually always draw from it! The best and easiest photos to draw from are usually listing photos from the sale or purchase of the house. Often, if we cannot find a good photo, I will find an old listing photo online and the customer lets me know any garden changes to be made that have happened since the purchase. The main thing to note, is that I will draw the home based on the viewpoint in which it is portrayed in the photo you provide. If you do not have a photo of the full home (for example if it was somewhere you no longer live), I can also sometimes piece together photos which show various parts of the home, as long as they are all from the same viewpoint. I cannot create an illustration of a viewpoint which is not shown clearly in the photos.
Can you make edits to parts of the home when illustrating it?
Yes, often I can! A common occurrence is tidying up hedging, trees or lawns - or adding a few little plants here and there to fill spaces in gardens. If there are small adjustments you would like me to make in terms of the home itself, do let me know and we can have a chat!
I want to gift a home illustration, but don’t have a photo!
In this case, I will check for photos of old sale listings online of the address - often, real estate companies will keep them up long after the sale! Otherwise, gift vouchers are a great option, and are available to purchase here.
